Overview
KAIMAX is a ready-for-use botulinum toxin type A injection, formulated to deliver targeted improvement of moderate to severe glabellar (frown) lines in adults aged 19–65.
Composition
- Clostridium botulinum toxin type A (in-house): 100 U
- Human serum albumin (EP): 0.5 mg
- Sodium chloride (USP): 0.9 mg
Appearance & Reconstitution
Supplied as a white-to-light-yellow lyophilisate in a clear glass vial. Reconstitute with sterile, preservative-free 0.9 % sodium chloride:
- Add 2.5 mL to yield 4 U/0.1 mL concentration
- Gently swirl; avoid vigorous shaking or foaming
- Label with date/time of reconstitution and use within 24 hours
Indications
- Temporary reduction of moderate to severe glabellar lines
- Improvement of forehead lines and crow’s feet
- Masseter muscle treatment (e.g., bruxism, jaw clenching)
- Adjunctive uses: sebum regulation and pore size reduction
Dosage & Administration
For glabellar lines, administer a total of 20 U via five intramuscular injection points, adjusting based on muscle mass and wrinkle severity. Follow clinical best practices for needle selection and injection technique.
Storage
Unopened vials: 2–8 °C (refrigerated).
Reconstituted solution: Store at 2–8 °C; discard after 24 hours.
Shelf life: 36 months from manufacture.
Safety Precautions
Inspect for particulate matter and discoloration before use. Do not reuse vials across multiple patients. Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component or with certain neuromuscular disorders. Common adverse reactions include injection-site pain, bruising, and localized muscle weakness.
