Adult Stem Cell Collection Center
In April 2010, NeoStem launched its Adult Stem Cell Collection Center and Research & Development (R&D) laboratory located at the Riverside Technology Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This facility spans 8,000 square feet and is strategically positioned near prominent institutions such as Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The center includes a blood collection/apheresis center, on-site cryogenic storage for research samples, a cell culture laboratory, and advanced equipment like a 16-channel Beckman flow cytometer for cell counting and sorting.
The launch event featured notable speakers from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and MassBio, highlighting the significance of this facility in advancing adult stem cell research. The R&D center aims to enhance understanding of stem cell biology while supporting academic and clinical partners in their research endeavors.
Therapeutic Applications
NeoStem’s focus on adult stem cells encompasses various therapeutic applications. These include potential treatments for heart disease, orthopedic issues, breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, and cosmetic procedures. The ability to collect and store autologous stem cells provides patients with personalized treatment options that may improve outcomes in these areas.
